PSALMS | PT. II | WISDOM & WHISPERS | PASTOR MARK ALLEN
In this message, Pastor Mark Allen talks about The Book of Psalms reveals something profound about how God designed us as three-part beings: body, soul, and spirit. Just as God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we too reflect that divine image in our makeup. The soul itself has three dimensions mind, will, and emotions, and Psalms speaks directly to our emotional life, giving us permission and language to express every feeling to God. Whether we're experiencing fear, loneliness, discouragement, anger, or joy, there's a psalm that meets us exactly where we are. But here's the deeper revelation: the 150 psalms are actually organized into five books that mirror the first five books of the Bible. Book One reflects Genesis, showing us the perfect man and his fall into rebellion. Book Two echoes Exodus, crying out from exile and bondage. Book Three parallels Leviticus, revealing God's provision for worship and redemption. Book Four mirrors Numbers, acknowledging our wilderness struggles and the brevity of life. And Book Five, like Deuteronomy, becomes one giant hallelujah, a reminder to never forget what God has done and to praise Him with everything we have. This structure whispers to us that our emotional journey with God follows a divine pattern: from creation and fall, through deliverance and worship, to hope and ultimate praise.
