JOB | PT. III | WISDOM & WHISPERS | PASTOR MARK ALLEN

May 3, 2026    Mark Allen

In this message, Pastor Mark Allen talks about The Book of Job confronts us with one of life's most agonizing questions: why do bad things happen to good people? Through Job's devastating losses his wealth, his servants, and heartbreakingly, all ten of his children in a single day we witness a man stripped of everything except his faith. What makes Job's response so powerful is his refusal to curse God despite unimaginable suffering. His declaration that 'the Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord' challenges our modern tendency to question God's goodness when life turns dark. The story reveals that our primary purpose on earth isn't comfort or prosperity its worship. We were created from dust to worship God, regardless of our circumstances. Job's journey also contains prophetic glimpses of Jesus as our Redeemer, Mediator, and Advocate the one who can lay hands on both God and humanity. When God finally speaks to Job, He doesn't provide simple answers to complex suffering. Instead, He reminds us that life's intricacies are beyond our comprehension, and some questions won't be answered until we see Him face to face. The beautiful ending shows God restoring Job's losses double except for his children, who weren't truly lost but waiting in heaven. This reminds us that people, not possessions, are what we carry into eternity. The whisper of wisdom here is clear: trust God in both abundance and loss, for He is working all things together for good, even when we cannot see or understand His purposes.
