Son Of God
In this message, Pastor Mark Allen invites us to consider a profound question: what if the greatest loss in human history wasn’t just sin itself, but the loss of intimate relationship with God?
Through the lens of the Gospel of Luke, Pastor Mark reveals that when Adam and Eve fell, humanity didn’t simply lose innocence, we lost closeness with our Creator. That picture of God walking with mankind in the cool of the day points to something deeply personal that was broken, and something God has always desired to restore.
Using the imagery of the ancient temple with its outer court, Holy Place, and Holy of Holies. This message unpacks how God designed us as body, soul, and spirit. As Luke’s Gospel unfolds, we see this temple theme woven throughout: from Zechariah encountering God in the temple, to Jesus teaching there at just twelve years old, to the powerful moment at the crucifixion when the veil was torn from top to bottom.
That massive curtain, four inches thick and sixty feet tall, didn’t tear by accident. It was a divine act, declaring that access to God’s presence was no longer restricted. Through Jesus, the barrier was removed.
Pastor Mark emphasizes that the Son of Man came not only to forgive sin, but to seek and restore what was truly lost our relationship with the Father. And now, everything changes. We are no longer distant or separated; we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are restored sons and daughters, invited into bold, intimate relationship with God able to walk with Him, commune with Him, and experience His presence just as those disciples did on the road to Emmaus.
